What’s going on

The AI features that vanished from your Notion plan were moved up a tier, not switched off. In May 2025 Notion removed the standalone AI add-on — previously about eight to ten dollars a member, buyable on any plan, so Plus-plus-add-on landed around eighteen a seat — and bundled full Notion AI exclusively into Business at twenty dollars a member and Enterprise. Free and Plus permanently lost full AI, and cancelled legacy add-ons can't be resubscribed, so there's no route back to the old cheaper bundle. Two consumption mechanics sit on top. Custom Agents, free during their beta, shifted in May 2026 to consumption-based credits at ten dollars per thousand credits, billed monthly with no rollover — roughly three cents to thirty-three cents per agent run — so agent-heavy workflows carry a real, variable monthly cost above the seat price. And AI image generation, gated to Business and Enterprise, is hard-capped at ten per twenty-four hours and thirty per rolling thirty days, so batch image work walls off fast. AI that simply no longer appears on a Free or Plus workspace is the removal at work — no setting will surface an add-on that no longer exists to buy. The real decision is whether Business at twenty a seat is justified by your team's actual AI usage; if you run Custom Agents, watch the credit meter closely, since cost scales with run frequency and data volume rather than sitting as a flat line item, and the image cap is a hard limit to schedule around rather than push through. Newer additions — orchestrating external agents, a wider model lineup — expand what's possible without changing who has to pay to reach it.
